Many of us say we do not believe in perfection. I am here to say that is not the case. Lets take a look at Instagram, there are about 500 million people that use Instagram. Most people on the app are young and looking for fame or acceptance. Than there are the people that already have fame and are looking for nothing more then a couple thousand to a couple million likes on their photo. If you take a look at the most followed people on Instagram it comes to the most followed man Cristiano Ronaldo with a huge following of 218 million. The most followed women is Ariana Grande with over 185 million followers. You may be asking, why do they have such a huge number of followers? Does it have anything to do with the fact they are both gorgeous?

Lets look at Cristiano, he is a big time soccer player, a model and a businessman. Seeming as soccer is a world wide sport he is almost always in the spotlight. Cristiano is a extremely wealthy guy, but that is not the reason he has hundreds of millions of followers. The fact is when you look at why people love him so, it is because he is beautiful and talented. Its as simple as that.

Now lets talk Ariana Grande, she is a singer, a model, business women and has many collabs with high end companies. She may seem like she has it all. She just like Cistiano is beautiful, wealthy and has millions of fans that adore and support her. Some people may describe them both as perfect.

What is perfection? The definition of perfection is a condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects. Think about that, now can anyone really be perfect? Can someone have absolutely no flaws or defects? The answer is no. Whether they have a flaw on the outside or on the inside. There will always be something “wrong” with a person. There can be no perfect person in everyone’s mind.

Ariana and Cistiano may be “perfect” in their fans eyes, but in reality they are just people, very rich very popular people. They have flaws just like anyone else. Whether or not they choose to show it, is up to them.

Perfection is just a word like beautiful or pretty, people started using it to describe a person or place. I myself have used the word to describe someone before. That does not mean I am a hypocrite or a liar but rather a human being.

So why do we follow perfection? Many people use perfection as a goal to work towards. They use people like Ariana and Cistiano as goals to strive towards, they use these people has examples of the kind of person they want to be. Whether that is wealth, fame, talent, or even just a good personality. People think that being perfect will make them more likable and thus they will feel better about themselves. This is not the case, you can have all the fame and fortune in the world but when is comes to self love and confidence that is something only you can fix.

What did we learn? We have just learnt that perfection is nothing but a delusion. There is no and never will be a perfect person. Going forward I would suggest that instead of using perfect to describe someone, use it as a goal. This will keep you striving to be your best self at all times.
